MORNING

Faint lights creeping out of the dark

as the cool air passes, the plants arch

their leaves, moistened from dewdrops.

A rooster crows to signal a morning that starts,

and one by one the stars quietly depart.

The moon gently fades and sunrays spark,

turning a purple sky slowly to a light blue.

The sun rises higher to show varied hues

and sounds of life begin, getting louder

as creatures awaken to a morn; to prepare,

to face yet a day full of promise;

but first, to welcome life, a morning’s gift.
